On the 4th of November 2023, the Malawi National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC), in collaboration with Mzuzu University, Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development, Save the Children Malawi, and the Civil Society Network on Climate Change (Cisonecc), hosted the Northern Regional Children and Youth Climate Justice Festival at the ODL Building of the University.
The event commenced with a Climate Justice Parade, starting from Mzuzu Shoprite and culminating at Mzuzu University via the M1 Road. More than 200 enthusiastic youth participants, some aboard buses equipped with a Public Address System, conveyed messages of climate justice, while others brandished placards bearing environmental and climate change-related messages. The procession was led by members of the Mzuzu Professional Cycling Club.These young advocates hailed from Mzuzu University, the University of Livingstonia Ekwendeni and Mzuzu Campuses, as well as youth representing the Mzuzu City Council.
