The Mzuzu City Council has launched a Business License Compliance Campaign to ensure that all businesses operating in the city have valid operating licenses. The campaign is in line with relevant laws and city by-laws, and it is aimed at improving the quality of services provided by the Council.
On record, only 20% of businesses operating in Mzuzu City have valid business licenses. This has a negative bearing on the quality of services provided by the Council, as it makes it difficult for the Council to collect revenue and to enforce regulations.
The Council has already closed down over 100 shops that did not have a valid business permit. The campaign will continue until there is total compliance.
MASP urges all its members operating their businesses in Mzuzu City to apply for a business license as soon as possible. You can apply for a business license online or at the Council’s offices.
